Jack Nicholson.
Sure, he *was* great (and I mean GREAT). Now he's just a loud egomaniacal twat who hasnt been in a single half decent story for years, and just plays - ooh dangerous sexy post-middle aged men.
Any actor who plays the same character all the time and gets oscars and millions of dollars for it is over rated.

Tom Cruise, as the main character. As a supporting character he seems to be do a lot better. Interview, magnolia, Taps. But his recent stuff is just not inspiring

There's a huge difference between an "actor" and a Hollywood "movie star".
Matt, I know what you mean about Keanu Reeves (he is a "movie star", no where near an actor) - although come to think of it - I do love all of his movies!?!?
I've been watching some of these extra feature things on DVDs, the last one (End of Days) the everyone was saying "how good an actor Arnie Schwarzenegger was"... huh?
How do that work? all he knows is Guns-n-Explosions...?
Most of these Hollywood "actors" don't act, then are just putting themselves in a situation (like the cast of Friends).

I like Jack Nicholson. He may do the same kind of roles but he does them well.
He is over rated if you put it like that though.
I like Tom Hanks too.
Keanu Reeves. He might not be highly rated as an actor but he is over rated as a star. I don't think he has any star quality at all. (apart from the lady appeal)
I think some people can make a film good even if they are not the best actors. Presence and charisma can be a substitute for not so good acting. But it can't make up for awful acting. IMHO

YAY - someone else who HATES Adam Sandler like I HATE him! BWAHAHAHA...*ahem*
hate that guy!
Schwatzenager - hmmm...very very bad actor, but somehow charming? "end of days" was El Crappo
Errr...any of those big meat-head actors - Van Dam, blah blah there are sooo many!
I can't seem to think of any 'big' actresses I hate at the moment (strange)
Kalista Flockart? ....give me time

I think Tom Cruise is desperately poor and a thoroughly rotten actor. In Magnolia for instance he was surrounded by actors giving fantastic performances e.g. Macy, Reilly, Baker Hall, who he really had no right being on the company of and he still come out getting all the plaudits. I don't want to think that hiring him was 'just' a cynical marketing ploy to ensure some bums on seats, but having seen the film several times it is hard to think otherwise.
Honourable mentions to Kornmeisters Kevin Costner and Tom Hanks.
